I finally had a day to sew yesterday! Of course it was stormy today, but I still got some cute photos.
I made Sammy a new collar and harness (my harness tutorial is here). I found this cute turquoise fabric with purple dots at Jo-Ann Fabrics – it’s one of their “designer” lines. It washed up really nice and the dots were straight on the grain! I might go back and get more. It’s cute without being super girly!

I also worked on this bag. I’ve got all of these ideas for zippered bags and this is one that I’ve had in my head but never made, so I had to try it.
I have a few more projects I have to get done this week! I’ve already had a few of my pattern testers make the Two Zip Hipster and send me feedback, so I have to get that pattern updated and ready to go. I have to make some bandanna scarves for our big dog friend Dino, who might be staying with us again soon, just for a weekend. So keeping that in mind, I have to work on my big dog bed tutorial in time for Dino to model! My friend Katie’s cutie pie Weimaraner, Cooper, has also volunteered to model for you all.
I also have to finish this dog step! It’s kind of too late for a tutorial – I covered it with batting a loooong time ago but never covered it in fabric. I’m going to give it a final cover of fleece and then some home dec in a plain blue to sort of match our comforter. It’s one of those $10.99 crates turned upside down. I cut a piece of 1″ NuFoam (batting-like not-foam) the size of the top and then wrapped layers of batting over it all and stapled it to the underside. Now I have to sew a fleece cover – it’s stretchy so it will hold everything in, and then a slipcover. I might use elastic on the bottom of the slipcover. I will post pics when I’m all done!
