When I started writing PDF sewing patterns, the name Dog Under My Desk just seemed appropriate. My Yorkie, Loki, slept under my desk all day (and night) while I designed, endlessly prototyped, and photographed my bag patterns.
My pattern business has gradually evolved over the past five years into my current line of patterns and tutorials, with more of each on the way! I’m active online and easy to reach if you have any questions about bag making, interfacing, or sewing in general! I currently live in Sydney, Australia with my husband and one-year-old son, Emmett, and 10 year-old Yorkie, Sammy. We lost little Loki (pictured) earlier this year, and Sam has taken over the job of sitting at my feet as I sew. I’ve been off for a while with a difficult pregnancy and a challenging first year with Emmett, but I’m back to working hard to bring you new patterns and tutorials.
I’m an analytical kind of person and I’m kind of a techie, which translates well into the sewing world. I like the technical side of sewing – accurate seams, math, figuring out construction, taking a gazillion pictures and creating PDF patterns and tutorials. All of those pictures and obsessively detailed instructions help to make your project a success, whether you are still learning how to sew or have years of experience. And I promise, zippers are NOT SCARY!
I would like to take the opportunity to thank all of you, my customers and my blog readers, especially those who take the time to leave comments and send emails, I have never felt more supported and loved. Thank you. <3
