I have to apologize for disappearing for the last few of days but I had to focus on finalizing this design…
I just got approval from the girls to name this “Get Carded” :D What do you think?
I went over to our Awesome-Thanks-to-Bob Facebook Page and asked what you all wanted, and we pretty much narrowed it down to: Zippered coin pouch, turned and topstitched, “lots” of card pockets, no binding, and you were split on folded notes vs. flat notes. At some point this popped into my head and it just had to exist, so I made the purple one. Then five more to get it right…
ALSO – No hand stitching! But still turned and topstitched, and no raw edges!!!
So, what’s next?
Drawing the pattern pieces in Adobe Illustrator. Taking something like 1000+ process pictures over the next several days. Editing the final 100 or so pics that will make it into the pattern. Writing the instructions and doing the layout as I go, to make sure I don’t miss any steps. Referring to my notes every few minutes. I’ll post a lot of the process on Instagram as I go along, because otherwise I’ll simply disappear for a week while I make the slowest wallet ever… Then off to pattern testers while I do cover photos and get everything ready for launch. I hope you’ll all keep me company! :)
I know some designers will do their version of this process in an evening or two, so I think sometimes when I post that first “YES THIS IS IT!” design, you think I’ll have a pattern for you in just a few days. But really, I have six revisions to go before I write my first line of instructions. I just don’t have the patience to wait to show you what I’m working on, and the feedback on this one has been incredible so while it may seem like I’m teasing you, it helps me so much to know that I’m heading in the right direction. So thank you! And please remind me if I forgot to answer your email/question/comment!
OK that’s it for now. I should be sewing. :D
