UPDATED 2018: The Sammy Bag Dog Sling has been completely re-written for 2018 to match my current writing standards with updated pattern pieces plus an added harness leash and outside pocket. If you have previously purchased on Craftsy, then the updated file is in your account. If you purchased on my website, you can re-download if you saved your email receipt. Otherwise, please email me and I will send you the updated pattern.
Make your own Sammy Bag with this PDF Sewing Pattern! Perfect for the little dog who likes to tag along. Designed for dogs 4-8 pounds, this sling is for dogs who like being up high and close to you and will happily sit in an open sling carrier and not try to jump out. Sam loves to ride in her bag when we go shopping at the Farmer’s Market and other dog friendly places. Slings are great for crowded outdoor festivals when there are too many people to let your little one walk safely by your side, but they can still see what’s going on and interact with all the people!

Your pattern os easy to follow and make, I used a med weight upholstry floral print and flannel interior. I added pocets to the front for her leash and treats. Now she goes everywhere with me and people are always asking where the bag came from. Thanks you so much
I am an experienced seamstress but I do not read patterns well. This is an easy-to-read, easy-to-follow pattern. It goes together quickly.
I added zipper in the front and thanks to the Zip N Go bag I knew how to do it.
Thanks Erin for writing such a wonderful pattern!
I've been looking for a bag pattern where I can carry my 4 lb chihuahua around in. This bag is the perfect size and the directions were so clear and easy to follow. I had mine together in no time. Can't wait to put little Sadie in it and take her over to the local quilt shop
I love this pattern. I made it this afternoon for my 5.5 pound Chihuahua, and was amazed at how quickly it went together. I attribute this to the very thorough easy to follow instructions. I have been sewing for years, but I don't think I have ever encountered such detailed instructions. My bag looks very similar to the pictures. I used quilting cotton with extra fusible interfacing for the exterior and baby wale cord for the interior. Can't wait to make another one.
